Major: City Planning and Urban Design
Code of subject: 7.191.02.E.022
Credits: 5.50
Department: Urban Planning and Design
Lecturer: Ph.D., assoc. prof. Halyna Lukashchuk
Semester: 2 семестр
Mode of study: денна
Мета вивчення дисципліни: The purpose of teaching the course is to master the general professional competences obtained in the course of training from the theoretical provisions of the formation of artistic compositions, using the decorative qualities and biological properties of the plant world (trees, bushes) and the ability to apply them to perform specific tasks. Since woody plants are living material, their decorative properties depend both on the plant itself and on the conditions of the environment in which they develop. In addition, the decorative properties of woody plants are dynamic: they change seasonally and with age. Decorative properties of woody plants should be used in an inextricable connection with both biological properties and environmental conditions. When creating three-dimensional compositions in landscape architecture, skillfully use the decorative features of woody plants using modern methods of plant selection.
Завдання: - general competences: 1. Knowledge and understanding of the subject area and understanding of professional activity. 2. Efforts to preserve the environment. - special (professional) competences: 1. Designing landscape objects using knowledge of dendrology. 2. Making a competent decision in matters of preservation of the cultural landscape. 3. The competence of specialists in the landscape and spatial organization of cities is used in the implementation of the General Plan of cities, the development of its development strategy, taking into account the principles of balanced development.
Learning outcomes: 1. To be able to use methodical approaches to the assessment of natural resource potential and its ecologically safe forms of use and reproduction. 2. To be able to determine the territorial organization and assess the resource potential of the territories regarding the state and development prospects. 3. To design the urban environment taking into account society and the principles of balanced development.
Required prior and related subjects: Modern concepts and innovations in architecture and urban planning. Landscape and spatial organization of cities and regions.
Summary of the subject: The process of urbanization has led to the formation of specific ecological conditions in cities that differ sharply from natural ones. Creating favorable conditions for the existence of green spaces has a positive effect on the urban environment, improving the climatic features of the area, regulating humidity, air composition, wind regime, etc. The protective and spatial-organizational functions of green spaces are used in the formation of landscape objects. Plants are an important component in spatial modeling of urban space. The educational discipline "Dendrology" consists of 15 lectures and aims to consider the main issues of the formation of landscape compositions in the city environment, using the decorative qualities and biological properties of the plant world (trees and bushes). When forming landscape compositions, the final selection of plants takes into account biological, functional, and architectural and artistic requirements. Within the framework of the discipline, the goal, tasks of dendrology, the function and role of trees and shrubs in the landscape are considered. Familiarity with botanical terminology: botanical species, intraspecific diversity; definition of the concept of the range of the species; the concept of introduction, adaptation, acclimatization and naturalization of plants. The peculiarities of the morphological structure of woody plants are considered: the morphology of vegetative and generative organs. In the parks of the city of Lviv, an introduction to the life forms of woody plants and their decorative features takes place. During the lecture course, the study of the ecological features of woody plants takes place, the classification of ecological factors, the zoning of Eastern Europe and the landscape-climatic zoning of Ukraine are considered. The decorative properties of woody plants, the principles of their selection in landscape compositions and the main elements of landscape compositions are considered. In practical classes, students get acquainted with the species composition of woody plants and their taxonomic structure. In the urban environment, the elements of landscape compositions are considered and their function is studied.
Опис: 1. Introduction The goal, task of dendrology. Trees and bushes in the landscape. Introduction to terminology: botanical species, intraspecific diversity; definition of the concept of the range of the species; concepts of introduction, adaptation, acclimatization and naturalization of plants. 2. Ecology of woody plants: classification of ecological factors, abiotic factors, biotic factors. Zoning of Eastern Europe and landscape and climatic zoning of Ukraine. - Classification of environmental factors. Abiotic factors: • Helio- and geophysical factors. • Climatic environmental factors. • Edaphic (soil) ecological factors. - Biotic factors and their influence on woody plants. 5. Decorative properties of woody plants: crown shape, decorative properties of leaves, flowers and fruits. Thematic excursion to Stryi Park. - Decorative properties of woody plants based on the shape of the crown, its density, and texture. Assessment methods and criteria: Collection and installation of the herbarium of the selected tree-shrub plant, execution of graphic works based on the decorative features of the selected plant, presentation on the ecological, biological and decorative properties of the selected species, submission of the colloquium on herbarium samples - current control. Final control - exam. Theoretical knowledge is diagnosed by standardized control using the test methodology with an alternative choice of answers of the I and II levels of difficulty and descriptive answers and sketch drawings. The knowledge of practical methods presented in the tests and the ability to apply them are diagnosed as the performance of an individual research task - a colloquium on herbarium specimens.
Критерії оцінювання результатів навчання: Current control (PC): - colloquium on herbarium material - 20%; - a presentation on the ecological, biological and decorative properties of the selected species, making a herbarium - 10; - graphic work based on the decorative features of the selected species - 10 p. Exam (tests) - 40%
