Learning outcomes: By the end of the study, learners are expected to: • know fundamentals of the concept, main constituents and operation principles of expert systems; • know main models of knowledge presentation in expert systems; • be able to develop simple logical conclusions; • know the peculiarities of medical expert systems; • be able to apply the acquired knowledge in interaction with medical expert systems; • be able to appraise the obtained results.

Summary of the subject: Fundamentals of artificial intellect. Concept of the expert system. Structure, main constituents and operation principles of expert systems. Methods of data and knowledge presentation. Frame knowledge presentation. Knowledge models. Presentation based on the productional rules. Medical data bases. Knowledge bases in expert systems. Fuzzy systems. Medical expert systems. Main features and types. Application of expert system in medicine.
Assessment methods and criteria: Current control: practical exercises, graphic calculation papers, oral interviewing, written tests – 100 points (100 %): practical exercises - 50 points; tests - 30 points; individual exercises (graphic calculation papers) - 20 points Final control: differentiated test/credit
