Мета вивчення дисципліни: To teach students to organize and carry out independent scientific research of the chosen topic, to form skills and abilities of scientific research activity in the field of architecture and urban planning.

Ability to communicate with representatives of other professional groups of different levels (with experts from other fields of knowledge/types of economic activity). professional competences: SK01. Ability to integrate knowledge and solve complex problems of architecture and urban planning in broad or multidisciplinary contexts. SK02. Ability to solve architectural and urban planning problems in new or unfamiliar environments in the presence of incomplete or limited information, taking into account aspects of social and ethical responsibility. SK03. The ability to analyze, develop and implement architectural and urban planning solutions taking into account socio-demographic, national-ethnic, natural-climatic, engineering-technical factors and sanitary-hygienic, safety, energy-saving, ecological, technical-economic requirements. SK04. Ability to continue learning with a high degree of autonomy. SK06. The ability to analyze international and domestic experience, to collect, accumulate and use information necessary for solving problems of a research and innovation nature in the field of architecture and urban planning. SK11. The ability to critically consider the problems of architecture and urban planning.
Learning outcomes: PH01. Have specialized conceptual knowledge that includes modern scientific achievements in the field of architecture and urban planning and is the basis for original thinking and conducting research PH02. Have specialized skills/problem-solving skills necessary for conducting research and/or implementing innovative activities in the field of architecture and urban planning in order to develop new knowledge and procedures PH08. Organize work on complex architectural and urban planning projects, cooperation with customers and the public in the development, coordination and public discussion of architectural projects; it is understandable to convey one's own conclusions and arguments to specialists and non-specialists PH10. Summary of the subject: Applicants of the second educational level master the types and peculiarities of the organization of scientific research in the field of architecture, its methodological principles and methods, the technology of planning research activities. The lectures provided information on the organization of scientific research, the implementation of independent research activities, the structure of the master's qualification work, the justification of the relevance of the research problem, the methods of working with information sources, the application of theoretical and empirical research methods in architecture and urban planning, the methods of building a theoretical concept of scientific research of architectural spheres During practical classes, master's students develop the ability to organize their own research work, the ability to independently select adequate methods, build scientific hypotheses and models, carry out successive stages of research, generalization and presentation of results. The content of the discipline is developed on the basis of the relevant requirements for the preparation of masters of architecture and urban planning for the implementation of innovative scientific research in the theory of architecture, for teaching work in the specialty, for the development of the architectural part of complex projects of various purposes, for work in the field of management at the level of districts and cities. The discipline reveals the main forms and methods of scientific analysis, provides a personal vision and understanding of the theoretical and methodological principles of architecture, which determine the independence of scientific research and the successful completion of the theoretical section of the master's qualification work.
Опис: 1. Scientific research in architecture: the structure of scientific knowledge in the field of architecture and urban planning. Theory, laws, problems, hypotheses, concepts and scientific methods. Terminology, basic concepts and definitions. Overview of directions of scientific research in the architectural sphere. 2. Master's qualification work: definition of the main stages of scientific research, purpose and tasks, structure of the qualification work. Organization of independent research activities. 3. Methods of working with information sources: methods of information search, organization of work in scientific and metric information bases, grouping and systematization of sources. The method of forming the list of used literature. 4. Theoretical and empirical research methods in architecture and urban planning. Basic concepts of research. Theoretical methods: formalization, abstraction, induction, deduction. Methods of empirical research: observation, description, experiment, comparison, measurement 5. Historical aspect of the problem: determination of historical prerequisites for the formation and development of architectural and urban planning objects, time limits of research. Methodology of applying the historical method in architectural research 6. Classification and typology as tools of scientific research in the field of architecture. The practice of applying methods of classification and typology in architectural research. Methodology of analysis of architectural analogues 7. Theoretical concept of scientific research in the field of architecture. A systematic approach in scientific research in the architectural field. The method of graphic modeling in the construction of the research concept
Assessment methods and criteria: Current control: conducting an oral survey in practical classes, assessing activity in classes, checking individual tasks, evaluating the student's presentation-speech, participation in the discussion. Порядок та критерії виставляння балів та оцінок: 100–88 points – (“excellent”) is awarded for a high level of knowledge (some inaccuracies are allowed) of the educational material of the component contained in the main and additional recommended literary sources, the ability to analyze the phenomena being studied in their interrelationship and development, clearly, succinctly, logically, consistently answer the questions, the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 87–71 points – (“good”) is awarded for a generally correct understanding of the educational material of the component, including calculations, reasoned answers to the questions posed, which, however, contain certain (insignificant) shortcomings, for the ability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical tasks; 70 – 50 points – (“satisfactory”) awarded for weak knowledge of the component’s educational material, inaccurate or poorly reasoned answers, with a violation of the sequence of presentation, for weak application of theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 49-26 points - ("not certified" with the possibility of retaking the semester control) is awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to apply theoretical provisions when solving practical problems; 25-00 points - ("unsatisfactory" with mandatory re-study) is awarded for ignorance of a significant part of the educational material of the component, significant errors in answering questions, inability to navigate when solving practical problems, ignorance of the main fundamental provisions.

Summary of the subject: The discipline allows you to master the basic skills and abilities of architectural design in imitation of successive stages of architectural production: clarification of data and generalization of materials before design research; verification of compliance with the positions of the State Building Regulations in the planning of the site and the volumetric and spatial solution of the building; building model development; search for the optimal constructive solution; development of options for facade solutions, selection of decorative materials; execution of plan drawings, sections and facades of the building, object visualizations. Опис: Introductory lesson. Issuance of a design task. Clarification of data and generalization of the results of the pre-project study of the site and the adjacent territory. Execution of graphic schemes and drawings. Clause Urban planning conditions for the organization of the territory. Clause protection. Discussion of the content of the course project: purpose and tasks, composition of the project, stages of implementation. Work on the detailed functional and spatial organization of the territory and object. Verification of compliance with the provisions of the State Building Regulations in the layout of the site. Clarification of the scheme of the general plan. Execution of the general plan drawing, interconnection of open and closed spaces of the territory and the object. Development of a planning solution for the object. Sketch of the plan of the 1st floor. Verification of DBN requirements, consultations. Modeling the architectural form of the object.
