Required prior and related subjects: Previous: Fundamentals of Architectural Design, Part 1, Architectural Graphics and Composition, Part 1 Related and next: Architectural graphics and composition, part 2
Summary of the subject: The content of the discipline allows you to master the basic principles and methods of architectural design of various types of recreational buildings. The main methods of conducting pre-project analysis are outlined and the sequence of the organization of the architectural design process in compliance with its main stages - sketch-idea, sketch, design drawings, layout - is revealed. The practical classes emphasize the importance of mastering the skills of independent development and presentation of an author's design solution. The principles of volume-spatial solution of a country house and the surrounding territory are considered, taking into account functional features, conditions of the natural environment, and climatic factors. In practice, students master the specifics of the organization of architectural space depending on the functional orientation of the design object (a house with a garden, a fisherman's house, a hunter's house, a tourist shelter, a house for family recreation near a lake or the sea, a sauna, recreational houses for various sports), carry out appropriate layout of the site. The design task involves the development of sketch options and the adoption of an optimal compositional solution; modeling and representation of an architectural object in different spatial angles and defined scales; expressive presentation of the design solution. Considerable attention is paid to familiarization with world trends in the design of country houses. The design task allows you to master the entire complex of design procedures in practice and serves as a good basis for future courses in educational architectural design.
