Learning outcomes: The study of an academic discipline involves the formation and development of students' competencies: INT. The ability to solve complex specialized tasks and practical problems in the field of design, or in the learning process, which involves the application of certain design theories and methods and is characterized by complexity and uncertainty of conditions. Professional competences: PC1.1. The ability to conduct pre-project studies and analyze project solution analogues. PC1.2. The ability to develop several options for conceptual solutions of objects of the subject-spatial environment. PC1.3. The ability to develop the design of the environment of object-spatial complexes for buildings and structures. At the end of learning process, students acquiring education have to display the below enlisted program learning outcomes (PLO): LO 1.Understand the significance and meaning of conducting pre-project research and analyzing alternative project solutions; be capable of using the obtained knowledge in project design. LO 2.Apply the comprehensive artistic and project approach in order to create an integral image of object-spatial environment. LO 3. Solve functional problems with respect to properties of materials and constructions; apply innovative technologies to elaborate modern design products. COM1. Ability to communicate, including oral and written communication in Ukrainian and foreign languages; COM2. The ability to use various methods, including modern information technologies, for effective communication at the professional and social levels. AaR1. Ability to adapt to new situations and make appropriate decisions. AaR2. Ability to realize the need for lifelong learning in order to deepen acquired new professional knowledge. AaR3. Summary of the subject: The academic discipline introduces the notion of style, the classification of styles as based on the type of original source and the methodology of their interpretation depending on the function of buildings. Particular attention is paid to the ethnic direction of stylization, including the stylistic identification of the ethnographic regions of Ukraine, the modern interpretation of historical styles, the natural ecological and the modern avant-garde directions of interior stylization. The major emphasis is put on the methodology of determining and interpreting the characteristic formative, constructive, compositional, and decorative features of different styles, which are used in the interiors of residential and public buildings. The primary task of the academic discipline is to make sure that a student not merely accumulates the determined scope of information but masters the methodology of interpreting and adapting to the modern requirements of any stylistic source.
Assessment methods and criteria: The final score (100 points maximum) of the graded pass-fail exam includes points for the completion of graphic task No 1 (30 points maximum), graphic task No 2 (30 points maximum), and test control of theoretical knowledge (40 points maximum).
